Farida Sher – Bridging the Distance with Her Grown Children

From Cohort 7: Samajhdar Maan aur Ghrana Program, Jan 2026

Farida Sher was facing a silent but deeply concerning challenge at home. Over the years, daily stress had made her impatient, and she often took out her anger and frustration on her children. As her three children grew into adulthood, this constant friction and harshness created a painful emotional distance between them. Instead of communicating, the house fell silent; the children stopped sharing their lives with her, drifted away and stayed busy on their phones, leaving no emotional bond. Realizing that the gap was widening day by day, Farida decided to change the story and enrolled in the SMG program. It proved to be an eye-opening journey. The modules on communication, relationship building and handling adult children deeply changed her perspective. She realized that grown children cannot be guided by anger or strictness; they need to be treated with love, respect and friendly conversation. She changed her approach completely, sat down with her children and began speaking to them with kindness and warmth. The change was proudly shared by her own daughter, who says a wonderful change has come over her mother: she no longer scolds or reacts with anger but speaks with deep love. The cold distance between mother and children has vanished, and the home is filled with happy conversations. Thanks to the SMG program, Farida has reclaimed her bond with her grown children and brought warmth back to her family. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Ma’am Dr. Shagufta Jabeen and the entire team for guiding mothers on how to evolve gracefully with their growing families.
